दम दमे में दम नहीं..!!

This relates to the time when Bahadur Shah Zafar,

last moghul emperor was imprisoned by British

Government in Rangoon. The dialogue took place

between King and the Jailor,who happened to be a

Englishman having good command over Urdu. The

Jailor on seeing the king in pensive mood said:-

दम दमे में दम नहीं अब खैर मांगो ज़ान क़ी

ए ज़फर बस हो चुकी शमशीर हिन्दुस्तान क़ी

This is the reply King gave on the spot:-

हिंदुयों में बू रहे गी जब तलक ईमान क़ी

तख्ते लंदन पर चले गी तेग हिन्दुस्तान क़ी..!!
